The CROUS de Poitiers, the regional student welfare office, operates six university residences on the La Rochelle campus, offering student accommodation at affordable prices.
Priority for CROUS residences is given to students who receive a grant from the French government. Generally, for Semester 1, there are no places in these residences for students who do not qualify for a student grant. However, it is possible to apply for CROUS accommodation for Semester 2, even if you do not receive a grant, as there is often some availability at this point in the year.

🏡 CLLAJ 17 - Comité Local pour le Logement Autonome des Jeunes

The CLLAJ17 is a local association providing information on housing for young adults. It is an association governed by the French law of 1901 whose objective is to assist all young adults, aged 16 to 30, in their search for accommodation.
The association offers a welcome service for young adults, providing them with information, guidance and support in their search for accommodation.
It has a selection of accommodation offers and ensures its assistance is adapted to the individual needs of each and every young adult.

🏡 L’ARHPEJ - Association Rochelaise d'Hébergement pour les Etudiants et les Jeunes

The ARHPEJ is a La Rochelle association, governed according to the French law of 1901, offering accommodation for students and young adults. It manages 4 residences comprising a total of 640 student flats, located in the heart of the university campus, close to the city centre and historic port.

🏡 La Rochelle Youth Hostel

Being ideally located near Excelia, this Youth Hostel ("Auberge de Jeunesse" in French) may be a good temporary solution for somewhere to stay. Excelia students benefit from special rates, so make sure you show your student ID card or proof of enrolment ("certificat de scolarité"). Please note that during the summer months and in September it can be very busy.

Lokaviz is an internet site run by the CROUS to help students find accommodation with a private landlord. It also contains help and advice on the rental process. It’s free to access the platform and very easy to navigate, so don’t forget to visit the Lokaviz site when you're looking for accommodation.

🏡 Ensemble2générations

This nationwide association, Ensemble2générations, promotes intergenerational living. It offers free or low-cost accommodation solutions for students, in exchange for their presence or services in the homes of older people.
Are you a warm-hearted person who wants to offer friendly support to a senior citizen, while saving money on rent?
Three different options are available:
Presence: free accommodation in exchange for a commitment to be present for a senior citizen in the evening and at night Mutual aid: low-cost accommodation (approx. €150/month) with a commitment to regular presence and providing assistance/companyMore about Ensemble2générations
- Conviviality: shared accommodation (approx. €300/month) in exchange for passive monitoring

🏡 Association Jeunesse & Habitat

The objective of the Association Jeunesse & Habitat (youth and housing association) is to help young adults moving to a new area by offering solutions in terms of food and accommodation. The association manages a range of high-quality, low-rent furnished accommodation, eligible for APL (housing benefit) and, for the most part, accessible to those with limited mobility.
