    Biography

Originally from the United Kingdom, Cathy Hardern holds a Bachelor degree in History and Society from the University of Exeter (UK), a Master degree in Education from the Open University (UK) and is fully qualified in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).

After starting her career at a private language school teaching English to students carrying out continual professional education, she joined Excelia Business School in 2000 as a Lecturer to teach her mother tongue. For a number of years, she also worked at EIGSI La Rochelle Engineering School. Today, Cathy Hardern is also in charge of the Cap Anglophone internship for all Master in Management Year 1 students and, since 2019, she has been jointly responsible for organising Excelia’s Causeries, an event that enables the Group’s students, lecturers and personnel to share their knowledge, ideas and experiences through a mini-lecture, as well as the annual Concours d’Eloquence (eloquence competition). Putting her own eloquence to good use, she teaches Oral Communication.

Involved in voluntary and charity associations for many years, Cathy Hardern set up an association to help primary school pupils learn English. She is also the founder and Chairman of the association Remplir les ventres pas les poubelles (fill bellies not bins), whose aim is to raise awareness of food waste by making meals from unsold and unused food retrieved from shops, supermarkets and La Rochelle market, which otherwise would have been thrown away.
