After the success of the 1st Edition, which took place on 27th November 2020, Excelia is organising another research day dedicated to Supply Chain and Innovation.
For the first edition, the day focussed on ‘Innovation in Supply Chain Management: complementary or conflicting?’, in the broadest sense. It provided an opportunity to look at the practices of supply chain professionals whilst considering certain academic questions such as the contribution of innovation to value creation in supply chains, innovative interactions between different links in the chain, etc.

Theme for 2022: The challenges for innovation in the supply chains of the future
The theme for this second research day will be the challenges of innovating in the supply chains of the future.
This topic will address the challenges facing supply chains in the following areas (list non-exhaustive):
- Strategic challenges: How can we manage supply chain disruptions? What role do intermediaries play (LSPs and others)? How should we evaluate the performance of the logistics systems implemented?
- Technical and Technological challenges: What digital innovations can be integrated into the organisation of supply chains?
- Human challenges: What new talents and skills are needed to respond to the transformation of logistics chains? Which resources should be pooled?
- Environmental challenges: How can we factor in sustainable logistics criteria?
One of the main objectives of this day is to rethink the innovation analysis grids in the management of supply chains in their entirety, in order to highlight the contribution of innovation to the overall performance of the organisation.
