La Rochelle School of Tourism and Hospitality decided to invite the Hermione Lafayette Association to be patron of its new student year group.
The patronage ceremony took place on the 4th September, in the presence of Daniel Ridoret, President of the Hermione Foundation Academy.
This patronage is a logical step for both La Rochelle School of Tourism and Hospitality and the Hermione Lafayette Association as they share many common values:
- Dynamism and discipline
- Mutual help and sharing
- Living together and respect for others
- Surpassing oneself and self-awareness
- Solidarity and autonomy
- Quest for knowledge
Strong values that will be primordial for our students.
The philosophy of a patronage is also about the parallelism of knowledge, experiences and challenges around the concept of adventure. The Hermione is a remarkable adventure in the same way that each student is the ‘captain of their own personal adventure’.
In addition, it was important for La Rochelle School of Tourism and Hospitality that this first patronage of a student year group involve a local partner, emblematic of tourism in Charente Maritime. Indeed, the Hermione will offer our students an extraordinary opportunity to experiment and deal with tourism issues.
This patronage will forge strong links between the Hermione and our students through, for example, a theatrical seminar on the history of the Hermione including the restoration at the Arsenal in Rochefort, opportunities to experience life as a ‘topman’, long- or short-term internships, volunteering experiences at key Hermione events, providing a practical study site for a number of courses etc.
