Biography
Dominique Bignon-Hansens holds a Degree in German from the University of Paris XII. She began her career in small and medium-sized Franco-German companies, where she worked both as a Translator and Management Assistant. Passionate about travelling since her early childhood (Germany is her adopted homeland), she then moved to the United States (NYC), where she worked in a luxury boutique (she was lucky enough to meet Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep!) to improve her language skills (she is now fluent in French, English and German, and has a basic knowledge of Dutch), before starting to teach French as a Foreign Language. Back in Europe, she moved to Northern Germany, where she obtained her French as a Foreign Language Teaching qualification and taught at Universities in Bremeraven, Kaltenkirchen and Bad Segeberg.
Dominique Bignon-Hansens moved to France in 1991 and joined Excelia Business School the same year. She created a media library dedicated to French language teaching at the French Language Institute (IEF) and, from 1992, continued her activities at Excelia teaching German on the BBA International programme as well as teaching French as a Foreign Language. At the same time, she worked in various secondary schools in the region. In 1997, she obtained her CAPES Teaching Certificate for teaching the German language. She now concentrates principally on teaching German, is involved in the Excelia's undergraduate programmes, and at the IEF as a French as a Foreign Language Teacher and continues to teach in National Education in Rochefort.
