Biography
Dr. Birjees Rahat is an Assistant Professor of Finance at Excelia Business School. She holds a PhD in Finance from the University of Montpellier, specializing in ESG and Sustainable Finance. She is also a European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies Certified ESG Analyst® (CESGA). At Excelia she teaches courses in Corporate Finance, Financial Reporting and Analysis, Sustainable Finance, and Financial Markets, amongst others.
Dr. Rahat brings extensive professional experience in credit ratings, risk assessment, and investment management, having worked in portfolio management and advisory roles before transitioning to academia. She has also been awarded research grants from prestigious organizations such as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Islamic Development Bank.
Her research focuses on sustainable finance, ESG-related issues, financial intermediation, responsible investments, and blue finance. She also explores the efficiency and stability of financial intermediaries, particularly factors influencing asset quality and financial performance. Her work has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including Energy Economics, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Journal of Environmental Management, Resources Policy, Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, and Journal of Asset Management.
