This year, Excelia hosted the 14th Edition of the RIODD Conference.
The 14th RIODD Conference continued with the interdisciplinary approach adopted in previous editions. This was developed through this year’s theme: ‘Sustainable Development: Regions and Innovations’, with a close look not only at questions relating to several areas of Human and Social Sciences and Applied Sciences, but also through the group of organisers themselves, who were from the world of Academia, active in the Poitou-Charentes region.
The 25th September was devoted to PhD students and experienced researchers, enabling them to exchange ideas and thoughts concerning their theses, different projects, issues and methodologies relating to the profession of research-active lecturers. The round table on 26th September, marking the opening of this conference, focussed on the theme ‘Innovative practices to promote sustainable development within the regions’ and was moderated by Pierre Baret (Head of the IRSI - Institute for Responsibility through Innovation). This plenary session included various speakers: Elodie Bout (La Rochelle Zero-Carbon City), Christophe Philipponneau (Atlantech), Thierry Hautier (President of La Rochelle CCI) and Luc Audebrand (Professor in the Faculty of Business Administration, Laval University) who encouraged researchers and all stakeholders in general to get involved, to act and to innovate so as to ensure the transition towards a sustainable region.
The 26th and 27th September focussed on different research themes and took various forms, such as presentations, round tables, debates and even time for socialising.
The conference also highlighted and promoted the best works in research (with the awarding of the RIODD Vigeo-Eiris 2019 thesis prize) and in teaching (with the awarding of the best teaching case study in Sustainable Development). During the event, the 2019 RIODD-CCMP Award was given to the case study Oléoduc Énergie-Est et la pouponnière des belugas du Saint-Laurent, written by Scott McKay (ESG-UQAM, Montreal). A Special Award, for work currently being finalised and published, was given to the Hautier Transport Group case study by Fanny Romestant, Vincent Helfrich and Pierre Baret (Excelia, La Rochelle).
