An award showcasing Excelia Business School
Maureen Poullié, a Year 2 Master student at Excelia Business School, has successfully won the Prix Féminin du Meilleur Mémoire en Supply Chain (Women’s Prize for Best Supply Chain Thesis), a prestigious distinction awarded by France Supply Chain by Aslog. This honour recognises her innovative work on a subject at the heart of today’s challenges: the impact of responsible labels on company purchasing practices.
A thesis of excellence focussing on strategic issues
In her end-of-Master thesis, Maureen studied how responsible labels can influence company practices in moving towards a more sustainable and inclusive supply chain. Through a case study in the demanding aeronautics sector, carried out using semi-directive interviews and participant observation, she highlights the transformative potential of these labels. Using practical examples, she shows how a well-designed label can guide, unite and differentiate companies in their drive towards sustainability.
Through a case study of an aeronautical company that has held the RFAR (responsible purchasing and supplier relations) label since 2022, Maureen highlighted how this label has helped to drive more ethical and responsible practices in the procurement process.
“Today, it’s no longer possible to choose suppliers by focussing solely on price. At a time when scandals linked to irresponsible supply chains are still all too common, we owe it to ourselves to buy better”, explains Maureen.
Female leadership in the spotlight
This prize, awarded by the Communauté des Femmes en Supply Chain, highlights the growing importance of female leadership in a sector still marked by an under-representation of women, particularly in management positions. By recognising careers like Maureen’s, this award encourages a more balanced and inclusive representation in logistics and supply chain professions.
With this prize, she becomes an ambassador for this fundamental shift in thinking.
Changing attitudes, transforming practices
In her work, Maureen also highlights the importance of involving teams in the introduction of responsible labels.
She thanks Valérie Fernandes and Morgane Fritz, research-active Faculty members, for their kind guidance and invaluable advice, which played a key role in bringing this project to fruition.
