Euroma sustainability forum, sustainable development in practice !
On 22nd and 23rd March, the 8th edition of the international conference EurOMA Sustainable Operations and Supply Chain Forum took place in France for the very first time, being hosted by Excelia Business School. A 100% online format which, far from impeding the desire for lively discussion, resulted in extremely valuable dialogue between the participants.
A round table on the circular economy
EurOMA (European Operations Management Association) is an association focussing on research in operations and supply chain management, with the objective of encouraging reflection and debate between researchers, as well as the dissemination of good practice in terms of company policy.
This year, the event was organised by a committee in France led by Morgane Fritz and Minelle Silva, both Associate Professors in the Supply Chain, Purchasing & Project Management Department, focussing on themes held dear by Excelia's research faculty: sustainable development in the supply chain, and the strengthening of links between research and actual implementation.
A round table between two researchers and a supply chain manager kicked off the two-day event which included presentations on research topics as well as workshops on the circular economy in the supply chain, social challenges in the supply chain, its digitalisation and even the consequences of climate change. One of the much-appreciated highlights of this edition in La Rochelle was the introduction of pedagogical case studies, with valuable input from Marie-Noëlle Rimaud and Poonam Oberoi of the School's case laboratory, INNOV Case Lab. Many other members of the School and its network of partners were also involved in reviewing the submissions and in organising the event, including Valérie Fernandes, Jesús Gonzalez-Feliu, Liliane Carmagnac, Cécile Phalippout and Karen Meza Peralta.
Event overview: 78 presentations of academic research articles, 3 pedagogical case studies, 4 workshops and, above all, a no-holds-barred approach, that was both friendly and constructive, and which made a strong impression on the 121 participants (compared to 80 - 120 for previous editions).
