Who are Generation Z? Autonomous, pragmatic young adults

Generation Z, often known as Zoomers, refers to those born between 1997 and 2012. This generation is known for its ability to use technology, its engagement with society and its pragmatic approach to the world of work. Contrary to certain preconceived ideas, these young adults are well-informed, adaptable, and look for meaning in their actions. They ‘consume’ information from a variety of media, preferring to use digital platforms to develop their skills and to network with communities that share their values.

Stereotypes about Generation Z: So much more than just a ‘screen generation’

It is often said that Generation Z is superficial, out of touch with reality, and lazy. In reality, they are extremely socially committed and ready to question established models. Their way of engaging with the world, notably through social media, means that they are quick to find out what’s going on and adopt a stance on crucial issues. They don’t just follow trends… they set and influence them.

Generation Z and companies: An approach to work based on independence and flexibility

A generation rewriting the rules of work: Mobility, freelancing, entrepreneurship

One of the defining characteristics of Gen Z is their need for independence and freedom in the workplace. Unlike previous generations, they are looking for flexible working models, where autonomy is highly regarded. Freelancing, entrepreneurship, and personal projects are all strongly appealing to this generation. First and foremost, they are looking for a job that has a purpose, reflects their values, and enables them to balance their professional and personal lives.

The qualities of Generation Z ensuring successful vocational integration

The young adults of Generation Z possess a whole host of strengths, enabling them to succeed in the world of work. They are digital natives, which means they easily adapt to the latest technological tools and have a natural mastery of the new communication platforms. Their critical thinking and their ability to analyse vast quantities of information enable them to make informed decisions. Furthermore, their concern for ecological and social issues means that they are ethically minded and actively support sustainable development.

Generation Z and their interests: What really motivates them?

A generation committed to and passionate about the world

Gen Z is motivated by a variety of issues, including social justice, ecology, technological innovation, and personal development. They support causes that have meaning and they want to have a positive impact on the world. Contrary to the image of a generation that is superficial, they actively seek information and share their opinions on influential platforms such as TikTok, Instagram and Twitter.

Generation Z and companies: Why businesses need to adapt to the expectations of these Zoomers

Companies need to realise that Generation Z does not simply look at a brand’s reputation, but at its commitment. Transparency and ethics are decisive criteria when it comes to how they ‘consume’. A company that can communicate with them and adapt to their expectations will win their loyalty. What’s more, the opinions of other consumers have a major influence on their choices, which is why honest and engaging communication is so important.

A generation of innovators transforming the world of work

Aside from stereotypes, Generation Z is clearly a driving force for change and innovation. Their vision of the world is based on principles of justice, equity, and flexibility. If they question established norms, it’s not because of a lack of engagement, but because they want to build a more harmonious future. For companies and decision-makers, understanding this generation is essential if they are to prepare for the transformations of tomorrow and capitalise on the unique skills these Zoomers have to offer in terms of innovation and digitalisation.
